The SANDVIK COROMANT 5740830 is an indexable grooving toolholder designed for internal or external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Coro Cut 1-2 series standard, it accepts N123E2 inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The holder features a right-hand cutting direction, a maximum depth of cut of 0.59 inches (15 mm), and a square shank measuring 0.5 x 0.5 inches (12.70 x 12.70 mm). The overall length is 4.5 inches with a maximum overhang of 1.319 inches. Toolholder material is steel. This part is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop turning environments.
This toolholder is suited for both internal and external grooving applications where precision depth control and repeatable insert indexing are required. The non-face grooving style and F123 toolholder configuration make it appropriate for medium-duty grooving passes on a range of workpiece materials. The clamp insert-holding method provides secure seating during interrupted cuts and standard grooving cycles. It is a multi-use tool compatible with a variety of turning setups where the Coro Cut 1-2 insert platform is already in use.
Compatible with N123E2 series inserts, specifically N123E2-0200-0002-CM. Designed as part of the Sandvik Coromant Coro Cut 1-2 tooling platform for use in standard CNC turning and lathe applications requiring internal or external grooving capability.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret or toolpost is de-energized before mounting or changing this toolholder. Verify shank seating is secure in the tool block and that insert clamping torque follows the machine tool or insert manufacturer guidelines. Confirm depth-of-cut settings do not exceed the 0.59-inch maximum to avoid overloading the insert or holder.
