The SANDVIK COROMANT 5740745 is a carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries the ANSI and ISO designation RCMT2006M0 and features a round (R) shape with a positive side clearance and neutral hand orientation. Grade H13A is an uncoated, bright carbide grade engineered for high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. With four available cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent tool life and cost efficiency in production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert into compatible CoroTurn 107 toolholders for roughing and medium machining passes.
This insert is suited for turning applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and special or super alloys. The M0 chip breaker geometry supports both roughing and medium machining operations, making it a versatile option for shops running varied materials. It is used in both roughing passes where aggressive material removal is needed and in medium machining where surface finish requirements become a factor. The inscribed circle diameter of 0.7874 inches (20.00 mm) and 0.25-inch thickness make it appropriate for moderate-to-heavy depth-of-cut applications on production turning equipment.
Designed for use with compatible SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept RCMT-style round inserts with a screw clamping method. Verify toolholder pocket specifications against the RCMT2006M0 insert dimensions before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by CNC machinists or tool-room technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key at the manufacturer-specified torque for the CoroTurn 107 clamping screw — refer to the toolholder documentation for that value, as no torque spec is provided here. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert, and confirm proper edge orientation before resuming cuts.
