The SANDVIK COROMANT 5740651 is a round milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation RCMT 06 02 M0 235. It is a single-sided, solid carbide insert finished with a CVD-applied TiCN and TiN multilayer coating in manufacturer grade 235. The insert features a positive rake geometry, a 7-degree relief angle, a rounded cutting edge style, and a flat-top chip breaker. With 4 cutting edges and a screw-type holding method, it is designed for use in indexable milling tool bodies compatible with the SRSC and SRDC cutter series. Machinists and tooling specialists install this insert in CNC milling applications targeting steel and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is suited for production milling of steel and stainless steel in both roughing and finishing passes where a round insert profile is specified. The RCMT geometry delivers a consistent cutting edge around the full circumference of the insert, allowing the insert to be indexed multiple times before replacement. Compatible cutter series include SRSC and SRDC tool bodies. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to a range of milling configurations. Typical applications include face milling, copy milling, and contour work on ferrous materials classified under ISO material codes P and M.
Compatible with SRSC and SRDC cutter series tool bodies. Designed for use with screw-type insert seats accepting RCMT 06 02 M0 style round inserts per ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians during scheduled insert indexing or replacement. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before accessing the cutter body. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not over-torque, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before loading the new insert.
