The SANDVIK COROMANT 5740565 is a solid carbide round milling insert in the RCKT series, designed for high-performance milling of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries manufacturer grade 2030 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating that resists heat and wear at the cutting edge. The insert features a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.25 inch corner radius, and a positive rake geometry with a rounded cutting edge style. With 8 available cutting edges per insert, it delivers extended tool life in demanding machining environments. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop settings.
The 5740565 is suited for milling applications involving steel (P30), stainless steel (M25), superalloys, and titanium (S20) workpiece materials. The MM chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across these material groups. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard RCKT-style toolholders. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing operations where a maximum depth of cut of 0.0732 inches (1.86 mm) is within range. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and copy milling operations on CNC machining centers in both production and maintenance environments.
Compatible with SANDVIK COROMANT cutter series N331.32, R331.32, and RA200. Insert is screw-held and fits RCKT-style toolholders accepting a size 13 round insert with a 0.1575 inch hole diameter.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw - do not overtighten or use impact tools on the screw. Inspect the insert seat and screw threads for damage before seating the new insert, and index to a fresh cutting edge before replacing the insert entirely.
