The SANDVIK COROMANT 5739803 is an indexable square-shoulder face mill designed for high-precision milling operations in metal removal applications. Part of the CoroMill 390 series, this cutter accepts five R390-17.. style inserts and delivers a 90-degree lead angle with a positive rake geometry. It features a right-hand cutting direction and a maximum cutting diameter of 2.5 inches (63.50 mm). The arbor hole diameter measures 0.75 inches (19.05 mm), and the maximum depth of cut reaches 15.70 mm (0.6181 inches). Inserts are secured via clamp and screw, providing reliable holding during demanding cuts. The body is constructed from steel and is intended for installation by machining and toolroom professionals.
This face mill is suited for square-shoulder milling operations in both production machining and job-shop environments. Its close-pitch insert configuration with five flutes supports higher feed rates and efficient material removal. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and slot milling on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The CoroMill 390 platform is a widely used series in CNC machining centers where square-shoulder accuracy and insert versatility are required. The cutter does not feature through-coolant capability, so external coolant delivery should be planned accordingly.
Compatible with R390-17.. series indexable inserts. Designed for use in the CoroMill 390 series platform with a 0.75-inch arbor hole diameter and a keyway width of 0.3839 inches (9.75 mm).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle and arbor are fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the cutter body. Verify that insert pockets are clean and free of debris before seating R390-17.. inserts, and confirm all clamp screws are torqued according to the insert manufacturer's documentation. External coolant lines should be positioned to target the cutting zone, as this cutter does not support coolant-through delivery.
