The SANDVIK COROMANT 5739648 is an indexable boring bar designed for precision boring and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to CoroCut 1-2 series specifications, this steel-bodied bar features a 1-1/2 inch shank diameter, a minimum bore diameter of 1.9685 inches (50 mm), and an overall length of 11.811 inches (300 mm). The clamp-style insert holding method secures a single N123G2-0300-GM insert and delivers a neutral rake angle with a 90-degree lead angle. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and tool life in deep-bore applications. The bar is right-hand cutting and ships without an insert included.
This boring bar is suited for production turning environments where grooving and boring must be performed with a single toolholder. The CoroCut 1-2 platform is a common choice in job shops and high-volume facilities running steel, cast iron, and similar machinable alloys. The multi-use designation means the same bar can transition between boring and grooving passes without a toolholder change, reducing setup time on live programs. It is sized for applications requiring bore entry of approximately 1.97 inches and depth capability up to 6.000 inches.
Designed for use with N123G2-0300-GM inserts, compatible insert size code G. Toolholder style AG123..B within the CoroCut 1-2 series platform. Insert is not included and must be ordered separately.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling setup technicians on CNC turning or boring equipment. Verify that the machine spindle bore and turret pocket accommodate a 1-1/2 inch shank before mounting. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing the toolholder or insert. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the turret clamping bolts and the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for insert clamping to avoid insert movement during cutting.
