The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737551 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries insert style N151.2 with manufacturer grade 4225, a 6.00 mm (0.2362 inch) cutting width, and a TiCN/Al2O3/TiN multilayer coating applied via MTCVD for elevated wear resistance and thermal stability. The 4E chipbreaker geometry paired with a 7-degree relief angle promotes controlled chip formation and edge clearance during deep parting cuts. A 0.40 mm corner radius provides a balance between edge strength and surface finish on finished diameters. Clamp-style holding keeps the insert securely seated under the interrupted and continuous cutting loads typical of cutoff work.
This insert is part of the T-Max Q-Cut series, a tooling platform used in precision turning environments across automotive, aerospace, general machining, and oil-field component shops. It suits residential and industrial machine shops running high-volume parting operations where consistent chip control and repeatable tool life matter. The neutral lead angle and neutral hand designation make it straightforward to apply in standard right-hand tool blocks without additional offset compensation. Machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed as a replacement-style insert for T-Max Q-Cut series clamp-style parting and grooving toolholders accepting insert seat size 60 and insert style N151.2.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine in a full stop condition and all axes locked per the machine tool manufacturer lockout/tagout procedure. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screws specified for the toolholder to avoid seat damage or insert cracking. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp face for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify insert orientation and seating before resuming cutting operations.
