The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737309 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to CoroCut 3 series specifications, it features a 1.00 mm cutting width (0.0394 inches), a neutral lead angle, and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process under the manufacturer grade 1125, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding turning applications. It uses a clamp-style holding method and is suited for shops running tight-tolerance cutoff work in steel, stainless, and similar materials.
This insert is intended for industrial turning applications where consistent parting performance and narrow kerf width are required. The CS chipbreaker geometry supports chip control in medium-duty cutoff and grooving passes. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to standard right-hand toolholders used in typical CNC turning setups. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production turning facilities, and precision machining environments. The maximum depth of cut is 4.30 mm (0.1693 inches), making it appropriate for small-diameter bar stock and component parting applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CoroCut 3 series toolholders accepting insert seat size U. Refer to the manufacturer catalog number N123U3-0100-0000-CS 1125 when cross-referencing compatible toolholder bodies.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and de-energize the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct clamping torque and toolholder specified for the CoroCut 3 insert seat to ensure proper insert retention and runout control. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or damage before each insert change to prevent premature edge failure.
