The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737218 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Cataloged as N151.2-500-4E 2135, it features a 5 mm cutting width, a neutral lead angle, and a 0-degree lead angle geometry suitable for straight cutoff passes. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with an MTCVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN multilayer coating, which improves heat resistance and edge wear during interrupted cuts and high-speed parting. A 4E chipbreaker geometry controls chip flow during cutoff operations. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool-and-die technicians install this insert in compatible clamp-style toolholders.
This insert is engineered for use in the T-Max Q-Cut series toolholding system. It is suited for parting and grooving on steel, stainless steel, and similar materials where controlled chip evacuation and consistent edge life are required. Typical applications include production turning environments in both job shop and high-volume manufacturing settings. The neutral hand designation makes it compatible with both left- and right-hand clamp-style holder configurations that accept the N151.2 insert style with a seat size of 50.
Designed for use with T-Max Q-Cut series clamp-style toolholders that accept the N151.2 insert style at insert seat size 50. Confirm holder compatibility with insert style N151.2 and seat size 50 before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state per applicable safety procedures. Seat the insert fully into the clamp-style holder pocket and verify the clamping mechanism secures the insert without rocking before resuming operation. Do not exceed the insert's rated cutting parameters as defined in the manufacturer tooling data. Inspect the insert seat for debris or damage before each insert change to maintain accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
