The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737185 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Part of the T-Max Q-Cut series, this insert features a neutral hand orientation and a 0.1181 inch (3.00 mm) cutting width, making it well suited for consistent groove dimensions in production environments. The insert carries a CVD-applied TiCN/TiN coating with a manufacturer grade of 235, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators in metal-cutting shops install this insert as a direct replacement in compatible T-Max Q-Cut toolholders.
This insert is used in precision turning applications where repeatable groove geometry is required. The N151.2 insert style and 4U chip breaker geometry support controlled chip evacuation during grooving cycles. The neutral rake angle of 7 degrees makes this insert appropriate for a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. ISO code N151.2-300-25-4U 235 identifies this insert within the T-Max Q-Cut system. Typical applications include groove and part-off operations on bar stock in medium-production and high-production CNC turning environments. This product is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 10 units.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max Q-Cut series toolholders accepting insert seat size 25 and insert style N151.2. ISO code N151.2-300-25-4U 235 should be used to confirm holder-to-insert compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and all power isolated before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or insert-clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert firmly without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
