The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737102 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the N151.2-A281-60-4P 235 ISO code, this insert features a CVD-applied TiCN/TiN coating that extends tool life in demanding production environments. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry support clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. With a cutting width of 7.14 mm (0.2810 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 3.17 mm (0.1250 inches), it is suited for medium-duty grooving work on steel, stainless, and similar materials. Machinists and CNC programmers in production shops and job shops are the primary users.
This insert is applied in grooving, parting, and profiling operations where consistent width tolerances and surface finish are required. It belongs to the T-Max Q-Cut series, which is engineered for secure clamping and stable cutting in high-volume turning applications. The 4P chip breaker geometry targets a maximum depth of cut range of 3.00 to 4.00 mm (approximately 0.1000 to 0.1500 inches), making it effective across a range of grooving depths within that envelope. It is sized at insert seat size 60 and is intended for use in compatible T-Max Q-Cut toolholders.
Designed for use with T-Max Q-Cut series toolholders accepting insert seat size 60. ISO code N151.2-A281-60-4P 235 should be referenced when confirming holder compatibility. Verify toolholder seat size and clamping style before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine powered off and the spindle locked. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating to prevent micro-fracture of the carbide. Replace the insert at the first sign of chipping, built-up edge, or degraded surface finish on the workpiece.
