The SANDVIK COROMANT 5737078 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroCut 3 series, this insert features a 2 mm cutting width (0.0787 inches) and a neutral lead angle with a 7-degree relief angle. The CS chipbreaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation during cutoff and deep grooving. A PVD-coated substrate at manufacturer grade 1125 delivers edge toughness and wear resistance in a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and index these inserts as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert is suited for cutoff and grooving applications on turning equipment in both production and job-shop environments. The CoroCut 3 system uses a clamp-style insert holding method, making indexing straightforward during machine setup. With a maximum depth of cut of 6.40 mm (0.252 inches) and an overall length of 11.10 mm (0.437 inches), this insert handles standard parting depths on small to medium bar stock. It is applicable in automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing turning operations where repeatable cutoff geometry is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 3 series toolholders that accept insert seat size T and insert style N123T3. Manufacturer catalog reference number N123T3-0200-0000-CS 1125.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the correct clamping torx key specified for the CoroCut 3 toolholder to seat the insert securely without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for proper insert orientation and confirm neutral hand alignment before resuming cuts.
