The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736814 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroCut 1-2 series, it carries an ISO code of N123J2-0600-RO H13A and features a 6 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 22.2 mm. The uncoated bright finish makes it suitable for applications where coating adhesion or workpiece contamination is a concern. The insert uses a neutral hand orientation and a positive rake geometry with a corner radius of 3 mm. This insert is installed by CNC machinists and turning specialists working in production and maintenance machining environments.
This insert is intended for grooving and cutoff operations on turned components in both high-volume production and job-shop settings. The CoroCut 1-2 system is a two-edged insert platform commonly used on external grooving and parting operations on lathes and turning centers. The RO chip breaker geometry supports efficient chip evacuation during moderate-depth grooving passes. It fits insert seat size J and is classified under insert style N123x2, insert size J2. Solid carbide construction without coating makes it a practical choice for non-ferrous materials, plastics, or finish operations where coated grades are not preferred.
Designed for use with CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders that accept a J-seat insert. Refer to the ISO code N123J2-0600-RO H13A when selecting compatible toolholders and insert clamps within the CoroCut 1-2 platform.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or clamp-style key specified for the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder to secure the insert without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for debris before seating a new insert. Replace the insert at the first sign of edge wear or chipping to avoid workpiece damage and toolholder wear.
