Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736225 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precise external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroCut 1-2 series, it features a neutral hand orientation and a 4.00 mm (0.1575 inch) cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 23.30 mm (0.9170 inch). The insert carries a multilayer MT-CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and heat stability during continuous or interrupted grooving cuts. A 2.00 mm (0.0787 inch) corner radius and the RO chip breaker geometry support controlled chip formation. This insert is installed by CNC machinists and tool-crib technicians in production turning environments.

The 5736225 is suited for grooving and parting operations on a range of workpiece materials where positive rake geometry and a multilayer CVD coating deliver extended tool life. The H2 insert size and H seat designation place it in standard CoroCut 1-2 toolholders and blade systems. Typical applications include groove-turning on bar stock, shaft components, and hydraulic fittings in medium to high-volume production. The RO chip breaker performs well in operations requiring reliable chip evacuation in confined groove geometries. ISO code N123H2-0400-RO S05F identifies the exact grade and geometry for toolholder and catalog cross-reference.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate with MT-CVD multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN coating for extended wear resistance
  • 4.00 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 23.30 mm
  • 2.00 mm corner radius with RO chip breaker for controlled chip formation in groove profiles
  • Positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces on workpiece and toolholder
  • Neutral hand orientation fits both right- and left-hand toolholder configurations where applicable
  • Multi-use insert compatible with CoroCut 1-2 series holders and blade systems

Compatibility

Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders and blades accepting H2 insert size with H seat designation. ISO code N123H2-0400-RO S05F should be used to confirm holder and grade compatibility before installation.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and the toolholder must be secured and de-energized before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct Torx or insert-clamping key specified for the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder — do not substitute driver sizes, as improper clamping torque can cause insert movement or damage to the seat. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for chips or wear before fitting a new insert.
