The SANDVIK COROMANT 5736101 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving, parting, and profiling operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISO designation N123G2-0300-0004-TM 1125 and belongs to the CoroCut 1-2 series. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via a PVD process, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cut conditions. Key cutting geometry specs include a 3.00 mm cutting width, an 18.40 mm maximum depth of cut, a 0.40 mm corner radius, and a positive rake angle with a TM chip breaker. It is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians in production or job-shop turning environments.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting applications on a range of workpiece materials where a PVD-coated carbide grade performs reliably. The CoroCut 1-2 system accepts G-seat inserts in the G2 size, making this a direct fit for compatible SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 toolholders. The neutral hand orientation supports use in standard right-hand and axial grooving setups. The TM chip breaker geometry is appropriate for medium cutting conditions and helps manage chip control during grooving passes. Maximum depth of cut range is 10.00 mm to 20.00 mm.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders accepting a G-seat, G2 insert size. Verify toolholder seat size and insert pocket geometry before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe indexed position before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified for the CoroCut 1-2 toolholder to secure the insert — do not overtighten with an impact driver or standard hex key without torque control. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
