The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735841 is a solid carbide profiling insert designed for precision turning and profiling operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries ISO code MB-09R180-09-14R 1025 and belongs to the CoroCut MB series. The insert features a 0.0354 inch (0.90 mm) corner radius, a right-hand cutting orientation, and a positive rake geometry. Grade 1025 carbide substrate is coated via PVD process with TiAlN and TiN layers, targeting wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cut conditions. A licensed machinist or CNC turning specialist installs and indexes this insert as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), and superalloys and titanium (S), covering ISO material groups P25, M25, and S25. It is suited for profiling and turning applications where a small-radius, rectangular insert is required, such as contour turning, face grooving approaches, and finish passes on turned components. The single cutting edge and clamp-style holding method are standard for CoroCut MB toolholders designed around the MB-09 insert size.
Designed for use in CoroCut MB series toolholders that accept MB-09R size inserts with clamp-style holding. Refer to the ISO code MB-09R180-09-14R 1025 when cross-referencing compatible toolholder bores and clamping systems.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, energy-isolated state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamp screw, as this can fracture the carbide insert body. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify correct insert orientation and hand before resuming cuts.
