The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735805 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to grade 2135 with an MTCVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN coating, this insert delivers consistent edge life under demanding interrupted-cut and continuous-cut conditions. It carries a 2.5 mm cutting width (0.0984 inches), a neutral lead angle, and a 0.30 mm corner radius. The insert seats in the F-size holder pocket and is held in place by a clamp-style clamping method. Machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production and job-shop environments rely on this style of insert for controlled chip formation and repeatable part-off dimensions.
This insert belongs to the CoroCut 1-2 series and is suited for cutoff and grooving applications in both steel and general-purpose turning materials where a shallow or moderate depth of cut is required. The maximum depth of cut is 18.90 mm (0.7441 inches), making it appropriate for small-to-medium diameter bar stock and tubing cutoff work. The CR chipbreaker geometry supports chip evacuation in continuous feed parting operations. It is typically installed as a replacement insert by machinists and toolroom technicians performing routine insert indexing or changeover.
Designed for use with CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders that accept the F insert seat size and clamp-style holding method. Catalog number N123F2-0250-0003-CR 2135 identifies the exact insert geometry for holder matching. Verify insert seat size and clamping system before ordering to confirm fitment.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Tighten the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using a calibrated torque wrench — do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the seating surface and clamp condition at each insert change to maintain accurate tool geometry.
