The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735466 is a laydown threading insert designed for right-hand external threading operations. It carries the manufacturer grade 1025 with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating and is manufactured from solid carbide for durability in demanding cutting conditions. Covering a thread-per-inch range of 12 to 80 TPI and a metric pitch range of 0.20 to 2.00 mm, this insert handles a broad spectrum of 60-degree V thread profiles in a single insert style. It measures 0.125 inches thick with an inscribed circle diameter of 0.118 inches. Machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking and precision machining environments install and index this insert as part of the CoroCut XS series tooling system.
This insert is suited for external threading on lathes and turning centers in production and job-shop environments. The 60-degree V thread standard covers unified and metric thread forms commonly specified in industrial, hydraulic, and mechanical assemblies. The 12 to 80 TPI range makes it practical for both coarse and fine thread cutting without a tool change. The single-tooth-per-side geometry and right-hand orientation make it appropriate for standard right-hand thread cutting on OD workpiece features. Typical applications include threading on steel, stainless steel, and similar materials where TiAlN/TiN-coated carbide grades perform reliably.
Designed for use with CoroCut XS series toolholders that accept the MAT insert style, size code 3. Refer to the manufacturer catalog number MATR 3 60-N 1025 when cross-referencing toolholder compatibility in SANDVIK COROMANT tooling documentation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and verify the clamping screw is properly torqued per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines before resuming cutting. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as carbide inserts can fracture under load if seating is compromised.
