The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735452 is a solid carbide cutoff insert in the CoroCut XS series, designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert carries the MACR style designation with a 1025 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating for wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The cutting width measures 1.5 mm (0.0591 inches), and the maximum depth of cut reaches 6.30 mm (0.2480 inches). A 6-degree relief angle and a MAC chipbreaker geometry promote clean chip evacuation in tight-clearance cutoff work. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators performing precision parting on small-diameter workpieces.
This insert is suited for precision parting, grooving, and cutoff applications on small-to-medium diameter workpieces in production turning environments. The CoroCut XS series targets operations where space is limited and insert stability is critical, such as Swiss-type turning and small-part machining. The right-hand lead angle orientation and clamp-style holding method make it compatible with CoroCut XS toolholders designed for that insert seat size 3 configuration. Typical materials machined include steel, stainless steel, and other alloys where TiAlN/TiN PVD coating provides thermal protection.
Designed for use with CoroCut XS series toolholders accepting insert seat size 3 and MACR-style inserts with a right-hand lead angle configuration.
Installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a stopped, locked-out state per established lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the CoroCut XS toolholder to secure the insert without over-tightening. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for damage or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for proper insert indexing and clamping sequence.
