The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735236 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the L151.2 insert style, it features a 5 mm (0.1969 inches) cutting width with a 0-degree lead angle and a left-hand orientation. The insert carries a 1125 manufacturer grade with a TiAlN coating applied via a PVD process, which delivers strong oxidation resistance and edge wear performance in steel and stainless applications. A 4E chipbreaker geometry controls chip flow and reduces cutting forces during deep parting cuts. A licensed machinist or CNC turning specialist is the typical installer and operator.
This insert is suited for use in production turning environments where consistent groove width and clean cutoff are required. It fits into T-Max Q-Cut toolholders that accept the L151.2 insert style with an insert seat size of 50. The left-hand configuration is used when the tool approaches from the tailstock end or the toolholder orientation requires a left-hand cutting edge. Typical applications include bar-fed CNC lathes in job shops and high-volume production cells cutting steel, stainless steel, and similar materials.
Designed for use with T-Max Q-Cut toolholders that accept the L151.2 insert style with an insert seat size of 50 and a left-hand insert orientation.
Installation and tool changes should be performed only when the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket and secure the clamp to manufacturer specifications using appropriate torque tools. Inspect the insert seat for chips or contamination before seating a new insert, as debris under the insert can cause premature edge failure or poor part geometry. Carbide inserts are brittle and should not be dropped or subjected to impact during handling.
