The SANDVIK COROMANT 5735048 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable insert drills where precise hole-making performance is required. Manufactured to LCMX insert style specifications with a manufacturer grade of 1020, this insert features a PVD-applied Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating for improved wear resistance and tool life. The inscribed circle measures 7/32 inches (0.2188 inches), the insert thickness is 1/8 inches (0.1250 inches), and the corner radius is 0.80 mm (0.0315 inches). The rectangular shape with a 7-degree relief angle suits the geometry requirements of indexable drill tooling systems. Installation and replacement are handled by machinists and toolroom technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for use in indexable insert drills in metalworking applications including ferrous and general-purpose machining. The LCMX insert style and size 3 designation place it in a defined toolholder family. The chipbreaker designation 53 is integral to chip control during drilling operations. It is applicable in CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and dedicated drill presses where indexable insert drill bodies accept this insert geometry. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement indexable drill insert for toolholder bodies that accept the LCMX insert style, size 3, with a 7/32-inch inscribed circle. Verify insert style, size, and chipbreaker designation against your drill body specifications before ordering.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and all motion stopped. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer when seating the insert screw - do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Follow the drill body manufacturer's torque and seating procedures to ensure proper insert indexing and runout control.
