The SANDVIK COROMANT 5734282 is a DNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer system, this insert is engineered for cutting stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials in the T-Max P series. The 55-degree diamond insert shape provides a sharp, focused cutting geometry, while the MF chip breaker geometry controls chips effectively at moderate feeds and depths. With four available cutting edges, the insert delivers extended tool life and cost efficiency per edge. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert as a direct OEM replacement or new tooling selection.
This insert is intended for external turning operations on stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material group M. It fits standard DNMG toolholders with a clamp-and-pin holding method. The T-Max P series is suited for general turning in both roughing and finishing passes where chip control and surface integrity are priorities. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium feeds, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on austenitic and duplex stainless grades. Installation into compatible DNMG toolholders is straightforward and consistent with standard indexable insert change procedures.

Indexable turning inserts are installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can crack the carbide insert or damage the seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
