The SANDVIK COROMANT 5734266 is a DNMG-style solid carbide turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for precision turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCr2O3 for thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. It features a 55-degree diamond shape (ISO code DNMG 11 04 08-MM 1125), a neutral hand orientation, and the MM chip breaker geometry. With four usable cutting edges, it delivers consistent performance across a wide range of turning passes. The insert is intended for installation by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning steel as its primary workpiece material and is also rated for stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium as secondary materials. The MM chip breaker geometry targets medium machining conditions, making this insert appropriate for general-purpose finishing and semi-finishing passes on both production runs and shorter-run job work. It is compatible with clamp and pin insert-holding methods standard to the T-Max P toolholder system.
Designed for use with T-Max P series toolholders that accept DNMG-style inserts using clamp and pin holding methods. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully stopped and all spindle motion confirmed halted before accessing the toolholder. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's setup documentation for proper clamping sequence and insert indexing procedure.
