The SANDVIK COROMANT 5734184 is a DNMG431-MF 2025 indexable turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert uses a solid carbide substrate with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting environments. It features a 55-degree diamond shape, neutral hand orientation, a 0.5946-inch cutting edge length, and a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. The MF chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation. Machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments install this insert.
This insert is primarily intended for turning stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material code M. The T-Max P series targets general external turning, profiling, and facing applications where consistent tool life and surface finish are required. With four cutting edges per insert, the 5734184 delivers efficient cost-per-edge performance in medium to light finishing cuts on stainless steel components typical in industrial, food processing, medical, and oil and gas part production.
Designed for use in tool holders accepting DNMG-style inserts with a clamp and pin holding method, consistent with T-Max P series tooling. ISO code designation is DNMG 15 04 04-MF 2025. Verify tool holder bore and clamp style before installation.
Insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following lockout/tagout procedures before accessing the turret or tool holder. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the tool holder manufacturer torque specification when seating the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and locating pin for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Never use a worn or chipped insert edge, as it can cause workpiece damage or unpredictable tool failure.
