The SANDVIK COROMANT 5733870 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the L151.2 insert style with a 1125 manufacturer grade, it features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for extended tool life in demanding materials. The cutting width measures 3.00 mm (0.1181 inches) with a 0-degree lead angle and a 7-degree relief angle. A 4E chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during cutoff passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments install this insert as a direct replacement in compatible T-Max Q-Cut tooling systems.
This insert is suited for cutoff and grooving applications in both light and medium-duty turning operations. The left-hand insert hand and left-hand lead angle direction make it appropriate for specific toolholder orientations where a right-hand insert would not engage correctly. The 1125 grade with TiAlN PVD coating performs well across a range of workpiece materials including steel and stainless steel. The corner radius of 0.30 mm (0.0118 inches) provides a controlled edge break on finished part surfaces. It is packaged individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it suitable for shop stock replenishment.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max Q-Cut series toolholders that accept the L151.2 insert style with seat size 30 and a left-hand insert orientation. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine spindle fully stopped and all motion axes locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert firmly into the clamping holder and verify the clamp screw torque matches the toolholder manufacturer specification before running. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination will affect edge alignment and tool life. Do not use this insert in a toolholder designated for a right-hand or neutral insert hand.
