The SANDVIK COROMANT 5732692 is a DNMG432-MM 1125 carbide turning insert designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a negative side clearance and a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating applied via PVD process, delivering high wear resistance with retained toughness. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining passes. With a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and four available cutting edges, this insert is suited for productive, cost-effective turning cycles on difficult materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for turning stainless steel and superalloys as its primary workpiece materials, with the 1125 grade delivering moderate to high wear resistance alongside sufficient toughness for interrupted and semi-continuous cuts. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, non-ferrous metals, titanium, and other superalloys. The MM chip breaker handles chip control demands common in ISO material groups M and S. It fits standard DNMG-style toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods, making it compatible with a wide range of production turning setups across aerospace, medical, and general manufacturing applications.
Designed for use in DNMG-style turning toolholders that accept clamp or pin insert retention. Fits T-Max P series tooling systems. Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or indexing the insert. Verify the insert pocket and clamping components are free of chips and debris before installation to ensure proper seating and consistent tool life. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for clamp screws; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate.
