The SANDVIK COROMANT 5731725 is a DNMG442MF-style carbide turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for finishing operations on stainless steel workpieces. It carries a multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN CVD-style coating that delivers high wear resistance while maintaining adequate toughness against the demanding cutting conditions of austenitic and similar stainless grades. The insert measures 15.5 mm in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) geometry, a negative side clearance, and a neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for a range of straight turning toolholders. CNC machinists and toolroom technicians working on turning centers and lathes typically select this grade.
This insert is intended for finishing passes on stainless steel components in both production and job-shop environments. Its MF chip breaker geometry is optimized to control chips at light-to-moderate depths of cut, making it well suited for achieving tight surface finishes on tubular or shaft-type parts common in food processing, chemical, medical, and general industrial applications. The maximum depth of cut is 14.70 mm, supporting a range of finishing stock-removal scenarios.
