The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730917 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a DCMX 55-degree parallelogram shape with a multi-layer MTCVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during steel and stainless steel machining. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.4263 inches, this insert is suited for medium finishing and semi-finishing passes. It is installed using a screw holding method and carries a neutral hand designation, making it compatible with both right- and left-hand toolholders in the CoroTurn 107 platform.
This insert is appropriate for use on CNC turning centers in both production shop and job-shop environments. The ISO code DCMX 11 T3 08-WM 2015 identifies it within the Sandvik Coromant indexable tooling system. The WM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-cutting conditions. Primary workpiece material code M indicates suitability for machining stainless steel and similar materials. The multi-use designation means the insert supports general turning applications including longitudinal turning and facing where the 55-degree included angle provides clearance and access.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting DCMX 11 T3 08-WM 2015 inserts. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation. ISO code DCMX 11 T3 08-WM 2015 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder bodies within the CoroTurn 107 system.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified method without over-torquing the insert seat. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating each new insert to ensure accurate edge positioning.
