The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730734 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT21.50-MF 1125 geometry, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a 0.20 mm corner radius, making it suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish are priorities. The insert is coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 via a PVD process, providing heat resistance and edge durability when cutting steel and stainless steel. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert is held in place by a screw clamp system and offers two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is intended for use in CoroTurn 107 toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Typical applications include finishing passes on turned components in general machining, aerospace, and energy sector work. Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators in machine shop environments. This insert is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and screw-clamp holding method. ISO code DCMT 07 02 02-MF 1125 may be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder pocket specifications.
Insert replacement is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a safe, powered-down or tool-change state. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to remove and seat the clamping screw without overtightening, which can fracture carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
