The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730691 is a DCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a neutral hand orientation. The dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating is applied via PVD process, delivering strong heat and wear resistance at the cutting edge. The 0.20 mm corner radius and MF chip breaker geometry make this insert well suited for light to medium finishing cuts on challenging workpiece materials. This insert is engineered primarily for machining stainless steel (ISO material code M) and is also rated for superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S). Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Confirm the insert is fully seated and the clamping screw is secure before resuming any cutting operation.
