Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730648 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and conventional lathes. Identified by ISO code DCMX 11 T3 04-WF 5015, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a wiper edge geometry for improved surface finish. The insert measures 0.442 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. Manufactured to grade 5015, it is engineered for demanding steel and cast iron applications where dimensional consistency and insert-to-insert repeatability are critical. It is held in place by a screw-clamping method.

This insert is suited for finishing and light roughing passes in both production shops and toolrooms. Its WF chip breaker geometry is optimized for steel as the primary workpiece material and cast iron as a secondary application. The CoroTurn 107 series targets external turning, facing, and profiling operations where a positive-rake insert style is required. With two cutting edges per insert and a screw-on holding method, it is a practical choice for machinists and tooling technicians running high-mix or high-volume turning programs.

Key Features

  • 55-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code D) for versatile turning and profiling
  • WF chip breaker geometry optimized for steel and cast iron workpieces
  • Wiper edge design for improved surface finish at standard feed rates
  • Solid carbide construction, grade 5015, uncoated for thermal stability in certain cutting conditions
  • Screw-on insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating
  • Neutral hand orientation compatible with standard DCMX toolholders

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style insert for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCMX-style inserts with a screw-on clamping method. ISO code DCMX 11 T3 04-WF 5015 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder designations.

Installation Notes

Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full stop, locked-out, and energy-isolated state per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification found in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert. Never attempt to index or replace an insert while the spindle is in motion or while the machine is in cycle.
