The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730620 is a cermet, uncoated turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries ANSI code DCMT32.51PM and ISO code DCMT 11 T3 04-PM 5015. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a sharp, positive side clearance geometry suited for finishing and medium machining passes. Key dimensional specs include an inscribed circle of 0.3752 inches, an insert length of 11.63 mm (0.4579 inches), an insert thickness of 3.97 mm (5/32 inches), and a corner radius of 0.40 mm (1/64 inches). The PM chip breaker geometry supports both roughing and medium machining applications.
This insert is engineered for machining steel (P-grade) and hardened materials (H-grade), offering a range from high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness depending on cutting conditions. It is also rated as a secondary choice for cast iron (K-grade) workpieces. Typical applications include external turning, profiling, and finishing passes on ferrous components in general metalworking, automotive, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing environments. Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders that accept DCMT-style inserts with ANSI size code 32.51 and ISO size code 11T304. Verify toolholder insert-seat geometry and clearance code C, tolerance code M requirements before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, wear, or damage before seating the new insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated and indexed correctly before resuming cutting operations.
