The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730568 is a cermet turning insert designed for external turning operations in the CoroTurn 107 series. Designated DCMT21.51PM 1525, it features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating of TiCN and TiN layers. The insert measures 7.75 mm in length with a 0.25-inch (1/4-inch) inscribed circle and a 0.40 mm (1/64-inch) corner radius. With two cutting edges and a PM chip breaker geometry, it is suited for precision finishing and semi-finishing cuts. Licensed HVAC technicians and machinists in metalworking shops install these inserts on compatible screw-clamped turning toolholders.
This insert is primarily engineered for steel workpieces (ISO material code P) and also performs on stainless steel and cast iron (ISO codes M and K). It is well suited for light to medium-depth turning passes, with a maximum depth of cut of 7.35 mm (0.2894 inches). The ISO designation is DCMT 07 02 04-PM 1525, and the insert size code is 21.51. It is applicable in CNC and manual lathe operations where tight tolerance finishes are required on ferrous materials.
Designed for use in the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle. ISO code DCMT 07 02 04-PM 1525 governs toolholder compatibility selection.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians using the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamping screw. Power down the spindle and engage the machine lock before seating or indexing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut or feed rate recommended for the selected toolholder and machine setup.
