The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730546 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated DCMT21.51-UF 1125, it carries a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a positive side clearance. The insert is PVD-coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 layers, delivering high wear resistance suited to stainless steel and superalloy workpieces. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert targets tight-tolerance finishing cuts where surface finish and edge consistency are critical. It is held by screw and fits the CoroTurn 107 tooling system. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production and job-shop turning applications.
This insert is part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series and is optimized for finishing chip-breaker geometry (UF). Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (M) and special or super alloys (S), with secondary suitability for steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The grade 1125 provides a balance of moderate-to-high wear resistance and toughness, making it well matched for interrupted finishing passes and contour turning where edge stability matters. Neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand and certain left-hand holders.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders. ANSI insert code DCMT21.51; ISO insert code DCMT070204 (ISO code DCMT 07 02 04-UF 1125). Verify holder pocket dimensions and screw size before installation.
Insert replacement and seating should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Ensure the toolholder pocket and screw are clean and undamaged before seating the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to drive the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excessive clamping force. Confirm insert orientation and hand designation match the holder specification before resuming cuts.
