The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730512 is a DCMT-style turning insert designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. The carbide substrate is CVD-coated with a TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer stack in manufacturer grade 2025, providing wear resistance and thermal stability suited to steel and stainless steel cutting applications. It is installed and replaced by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians as part of routine insert indexing.
This insert is optimized for turning stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, consistent with the ISO material group M designation. The DCMT geometry with MM chip breaker is engineered for medium finishing to light roughing passes where controlled chip formation is critical. The screw-on holding method is compatible with CoroTurn 107 toolholders designed for DCMT inserts with the corresponding clamp and pocket configuration. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour work on Swiss-type and turret lathes in production environments.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts with a screw holding method, clearance code C, and tolerance code M. ISO designation DCMT 11 T3 08-MM 2025. Compatible with pockets engineered for a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.1732-inch mounting hole diameter.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians with the machine in a safe, locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key at the manufacturer-specified torque for the CoroTurn 107 screw seat — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Confirm insert orientation matches the toolholder hand before resuming cutting operations.
