The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730500 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning and boring operations on CNC lathes. The insert carries the ISO designation DCMT 11 T3 08-MM 1115 and features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation. It is coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 via a PVD process, which supports high cutting speeds and extended tool life in demanding applications. The MM chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip evacuation. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job shop environments.
The 5730500 is primarily intended for machining stainless steel, with secondary suitability for superalloys and titanium. These are ISO material group M and S workpiece materials, which demand cutting edges that resist heat and built-up edge formation. The PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating combination addresses both of these concerns. Typical applications include finishing and semi-finishing passes on turned components where tight tolerances and good surface finish are required. The screw-holding method and standard DCMT pocket geometry make this insert compatible with a wide range of CoroTurn 107 toolholders.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept DCMT-style inserts with a screw-holding method and clearance code C. Compatible with workpiece materials classified as ISO group M (stainless steel) and ISO group S (superalloys and titanium).
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and locked-out state. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Index or replace the insert at the first sign of flank wear or edge deterioration to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
