The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730469 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ISO designation DCGX 11 T3 04-AL H10, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 7-degree relief angle. The H10 uncoated carbide grade and AL chip breaker geometry make it well suited for finishing operations where sharp edges and free-cutting action are critical. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of the CoroTurn 107 series tooling system, which uses a screw-clamp holding method for secure, repeatable positioning.
This insert is intended for turning non-ferrous metals as its primary workpiece material, including aluminum and other soft, gummy alloys where an uncoated, sharp carbide edge outperforms coated grades. Secondary applications cover superalloys and titanium. Typical use cases include finish turning of bores, shoulders, and external diameters on CNC lathes in aerospace, automotive, and general precision machining environments. The CoroTurn 107 series is a common platform in shops running high-surface-finish requirements on non-ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept DCGX-style inserts with a screw-clamp holding method, a 0.1732 inch hole diameter, and an insert size code of 32.51.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop, spindle off, and all motion axes locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to tighten the clamping screw - over-tightening can fracture the insert seat. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
