The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730463 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations in CNC lathe applications. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, it carries the ISO designation DCET 11 T3 02-UM 1105 and features a 55-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation. The grade 1105 carbide substrate is coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, offering wear resistance and thermal stability suited to steel and stainless steel workpieces. The UM chip breaker geometry is engineered for reliable chip control during light to medium finishing passes. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert fits turning toolholders designed for DCET-style screw-clamped inserts with a clearance code C and tolerance code E. It is suited for finishing and semi-finishing of steel (ISO material code P) and stainless steel (ISO material code M) components. The 0.20 mm corner radius makes it appropriate for tight-radius contour work and shoulder turning. Typical applications include aerospace components, precision shaft work, and general machining of alloy and stainless steels on CNC turning centers and manual lathes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCET-style inserts with a screw clamping method, clearance code C, and tolerance code E. Compatible with primary workpiece material steel (ISO code P) and secondary workpiece material stainless steel (ISO code M).
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque when seating the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the insert. Verify seating and runout before resuming cutting operations.
