The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730438 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to DCGT geometry with a 55-degree diamond shape, this insert carries a TiAlN2 PVD coating for elevated wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. It features a neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for standard right-to-left turning passes. With a 0.25-inch (6.35 mm) inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch (0.40 mm) corner radius, it is built for finish and semi-finish applications requiring tight tolerances and controlled surface quality. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series, a screw-clamped insert line engineered for light-duty and finishing cuts in steel and related materials.
This insert is intended for use in CoroTurn 107 compatible toolholders on manual or CNC turning equipment. Its primary workpiece material rating is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium. The DCGT geometry and UM chip breaker are optimized for finishing cuts with light depths of cut, up to 0.2894 inches (7.35 mm) maximum depth of cut. The insert is well suited for high-precision machining environments in industrial manufacturing, job shops, and production turning applications where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. Installation requires a compatible screw-clamp CoroTurn 107 toolholder with the appropriate seat geometry.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting DCGT-style inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle. ISO code DCGT 07 02 04-UM 1105. Primary workpiece material is steel; secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium.
This insert is installed and indexed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician using the appropriate torque wrench and screw hardware specified for CoroTurn 107 toolholders. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for the insert geometry and coating grade selected.
