The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730436 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ISO insert code DCGT070201UMH13A, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape (DCGT style), a 7-grade positive relief angle, and a UM chip breaker geometry. The H13A uncoated carbide grade delivers sharp, consistent cutting edges suited for finishing passes at tight tolerances. With a 0.10 mm (0.0039 inch) corner radius and two available cutting edges, it is a cost-effective solution for high-precision turning work. Licensed machinists and CNC operators specify this insert for finishing applications requiring minimal built-up edge and superior surface finish.
This insert is primarily applied to turning steel and stainless steel workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for light finishing cuts where chip control and surface integrity are critical. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for standard right-hand toolholders used in conventional turning setups. It is screw-held into compatible CoroTurn 107 toolholders, making indexing straightforward during tool changes. Typical applications include finish turning of shafts, sleeves, flanges, and precision-machined components in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamping toolholders that accept DCGT-style inserts with a 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) inscribed circle. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO M).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tool-room technicians. Power down the machine and engage all safety locks before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper location and clamping.
