The SANDVIK COROMANT 5730426 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ISO code DCGT 07 02 02-UM 1125, it features a 55-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.0079-inch (0.20 mm) corner radius for fine finishing work. The 1125 grade substrate carries a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCr2O3, making it well suited for steel and stainless steel applications where heat resistance and wear life are critical. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of the CoroTurn 107 system using a screw-holding method.
This insert is intended for light to medium turning passes on steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts where consistent chip control and surface finish quality are the primary requirements. The DCGT insert style with a G tolerance and C clearance code delivers tight dimensional accuracy, making it appropriate for close-tolerance bore and external turning applications in both production and job-shop environments where repeatable results are required.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept DCGT-style inserts with a screw-holding method. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per ISO material codes P, M, N, and S.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and the screw threads can be damaged. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge geometry.
