The SANDVIK COROMANT 5729598 is a modular turning profiling head designed for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the T-Max P series, this left-hand head accepts CNMG 120408 inserts secured by a wedge-style insert holding method. It features a head length projection of 65 mm (2.56 inches) and a center-to-cutting-edge distance of 45 mm (1.77 inches). The C6 system size and 40 mm head connection size make it compatible with modular tooling systems that use matching interface sizes. Through-coolant capability directs cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, supporting chip control and tool life in demanding internal profiling applications.
This profiling head is intended for internal turning and profiling operations, specifically in bores with a minimum hole diameter of 110 mm (4.33 inches) and a maximum hole depth of 65 mm (2.56 inches). It is suited for use in production turning environments, including automotive, aerospace, and general machining applications where precise internal profiles are required. The left-hand cutting direction makes it appropriate for specific spindle rotation or tool orientation setups. Machinists and CNC programmers working with modular quick-change tooling systems will find this head a direct-fit component within compatible T-Max P or C6-interface setups.
Designed for use with CNMG 120408 inserts. Compatible with modular tooling systems using a C6 system size and a 40 mm head connection interface, as specified in the product attributes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool builder guidelines and the tooling system manufacturer assembly procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy sources are locked out before mounting or changing the profiling head. Verify that the head connection interface and clamping components are clean and free of chips or debris before assembly. Confirm insert orientation and cutting direction match the programmed toolpath before initiating a cutting cycle.
