The SANDVIK COROMANT 5729243 is a modular turning profiling head designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the T-Max P series, this head features a Size C6 connection with a 115 mm (4.5276 inches) head length projection and a 63 mm (2.4803 inches) neck diameter. It accepts CNMG 120408 inserts secured by a wedge-style clamping mechanism, providing stable, repeatable insert positioning under heavy cutting loads. Through-coolant capability directs cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, extending insert life and improving chip evacuation during profiling passes. The neutral cutting direction suits a wide range of profiling and contouring applications.
This profiling head is intended for use in modular tooling systems on production turning equipment, including both horizontal and vertical CNC lathes. It is configured for external operations, making it suitable for profiling, contour turning, and finish turning on bar stock and chucked workpieces. The Size C6 interface and 32 mm head connection size are common on mid-to-large-bore modular tooling blocks. Machinists and tooling engineers working in automotive, aerospace, and general machining environments will find this head appropriate for medium-to-heavy stock removal and precision profiling. Coolant-through tooling paths make it especially effective in materials that generate significant heat at the cutting edge.
Designed for use with CNMG 120408 inserts in T-Max P series modular turning systems with a Size C6 connection and 32 mm head connection size.
This tooling head is installed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with modular turning systems. Ensure the machine spindle and coolant supply are fully shut down before mounting or removing the head. Verify that the mating modular coupling is clean and free of chips or burrs before engagement to protect the interface geometry. Follow the machine tool and tooling system manufacturer torque and assembly procedures for the C6 coupling interface.
