The SANDVIK COROMANT 5726646 is an indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide, this right-hand-cut toolholder carries a single TCMT 21.51 insert secured by screw clamping, delivering rigid, repeatable positioning on each insert change. The 1/2-inch shank diameter and 8-inch overall length suit it for reaching into deep-bore workpieces while maintaining the stiffness needed to hold tolerance. Minimum bore diameter is 0.6236 inches (15.84 mm), making it appropriate for small-to-medium diameter internal features requiring precise finish cuts.
This boring bar is part of the Sandvik Coromant CoroTurn 107 series, engineered for both boring and turning applications in production and job-shop environments. It is suited for use on medium-to-hard workpiece materials where a neutral rake geometry and precise insert positioning are required. The coolant-through design channels cutting fluid directly to the insert tip, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in deep-bore or interrupted-cut conditions. Machinists and CNC programmers in metalworking, aerospace, automotive, and general machining shops will find it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes.
Designed for use with TCMT 21.51 series inserts. Toolholder style is C-STFC within the Sandvik Coromant CoroTurn 107 series. Accepts one insert per setup. Compatible with standard 1/2-inch shank boring bar pockets on CNC lathes and turning centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Before mounting or changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per shop safety procedures. Verify shank bore and clamping set screw torque against the machine tool manufacturer specifications before running. Always confirm insert seating and screw engagement before initiating a cut.
