The SANDVIK COROMANT 5726217 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. Manufactured to CPMT insert style with an 80-degree diamond shape, it carries a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert measures 0.3493 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 5/32-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. It is held in place by a screw-clamp method and is intended for installation by machinists and CNC setup technicians working in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for turning steel as its primary workpiece material. It is also rated for secondary applications in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, and S. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light roughing passes where controlled chip formation is critical. The CoroTurn 111 series designation indicates compatibility with toolholders designed for screw-on CPMT inserts. This insert ships individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 111 series screw-clamp toolholders accepting CPMT insert style with ISO code CPMT 09 T3 08-UM 1125. Compatible with turning applications on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, de-energize the machine and engage all axis locks per shop safety procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
