Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 5726141 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Grade 1125 carbide substrate carries a PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating that resists heat and wear during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a UM chip breaker geometry. It belongs to the CoroTurn 111 series and is held in place by screw clamping. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and edge integrity are required.

This insert is primarily suited for machining steel workpieces, with secondary capability on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for light to medium depths of cut, making it well suited for fine finishing passes on difficult-to-machine alloys. It fits CoroTurn 111 toolholders that accept CPMT-style inserts with a screw-lock holding method, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, and a P clearance code with M tolerance code. Applications span both job shop and production turning environments where insert change-out speed and consistent surface finish matter.

Key Features

  • Grade 1125 solid carbide substrate with PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating for heat and wear resistance
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with neutral hand orientation for versatile external turning
  • UM chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing and semi-finishing on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium
  • 1/32-inch corner radius for controlled surface finish on tight-tolerance workpieces
  • Screw-lock insert holding method (Clearance Code P, Tolerance Code M) for secure, repeatable seating
  • CoroTurn 111 series with 2 cutting edges per insert

Compatibility

Designed for use in CoroTurn 111 series toolholders that accept CPMT-style inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, screw-lock clamping, P clearance code, and M tolerance code. ISO designation: CPMT 06 02 08-UM 1125.

Installation Notes

Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop and all axes at a safe position. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — do not over-torque. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm insert orientation and hand before resuming the cut.
