The SANDVIK COROMANT 5726109 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries the ISO designation CPMT 06 02 04-MF 2015 and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN that provides wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The diamond-shaped (80-degree) insert geometry with a neutral hand orientation suits a wide range of turning operations. With a 1/64-inch corner radius and a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, it is engineered for fine-to-medium finishing passes, particularly in stainless steel and other demanding workpiece materials. Installation requires a screw-type insert holding method with a standard CPMT-compatible toolholder.
This insert belongs to the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 111 series, which is designed for external and internal turning where close tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. It is primarily specified for stainless steel (ISO material group M) applications but is also suited to other materials within the capability of the 2015 grade. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for light to medium finishing cuts, controlling chip formation at lower depths of cut and feed rates. It is a single-package replacement insert used by machinists and CNC tooling technicians on production and job-shop turning equipment.
Designed for use with CPMT-compatible screw-clamp toolholders in the CoroTurn 111 series. Verify toolholder seat size matches the CPMT 06 02 04 insert pocket specification before installation.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician using the appropriate screw-clamp torx or hex key driver specified for the toolholder. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the pocket before tightening the clamping screw to avoid chipping the cutting edge. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
