The SANDVIK COROMANT 5726058 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations. Conforming to the CPMT insert style with an 80-degree diamond shape and a neutral hand orientation, this insert features a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied via physical vapor deposition. The MM chip breaker geometry and 0.0313-inch corner radius make it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. It carries manufacturer grade 1125 and belongs to the CoroTurn 111 series. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the screw-holding method keeps the insert securely seated during high-feed operations on steel and related workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for turning applications on steel as the primary workpiece material. Secondary material compatibility includes stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, making it a versatile choice for shops running mixed production. Typical installation scenarios include CNC turning centers and manual lathes equipped with CPMT-style toolholders. The CoroTurn 111 series is commonly used in external longitudinal turning where controlled chip evacuation and consistent surface finish are required.
Designed for use in CPMT-style screw-clamp toolholders within the CoroTurn 111 series. Compatible with workpieces in steel (ISO code P), stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M and S). ISO designation: CPMT 09 T3 08-MM 1125.
Turning insert replacement is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before indexing or replacing the insert, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all motion has ceased. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to loosen the clamping screw, seat the new insert fully into the pocket, and torque the screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a fresh insert edge.
