The SANDVIK COROMANT 5725947 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This CPMT21.51-MF 1125-grade insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-coating system that resists heat and wear during high-speed cuts. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (Insert Shape Code C) provides a strong cutting edge well suited to general profiling and facing passes. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and an MF chip breaker geometry, this insert delivers controlled chip evacuation and consistent surface finish. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tooling technicians specify this insert for finishing and light roughing passes where tight tolerances and tool life consistency are priorities.
This insert is intended primarily for cutting steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, making it a versatile option across job shop and production environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use on standard right-hand turning toolholders configured for CPMT-style screw-clamped inserts. It belongs to the CoroTurn 111 series, which targets external turning, facing, and profiling in both ISO P and ISO M material categories. Insert holding is by screw clamp, consistent with standard CPMT toolholder pockets.
Designed for use in CPMT-style screw-clamp toolholders within the CoroTurn 111 series. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO M, P, and S categories). Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seating dimensions against the ISO code CPMT 06 02 04-MF 1125 before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always bring the spindle to a full stop and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified feel — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure full, even contact across the insert face.
