The SANDVIK COROMANT 5725911 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT21.50-MF 1125 geometry, designed for precision external turning applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCr2O3, which delivers thermal resistance and wear protection during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert measures 0.246 inches in length with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 3/32-inch thickness, and a 0.20 mm corner radius. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting edge and suits profiling and contouring operations. This insert is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
The 5725911 is part of the CoroTurn 111 series and is engineered primarily for steel cutting, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The MF chip breaker geometry is suited for light finishing cuts, generating controlled chips at lower feed rates and depths of cut. The neutral hand orientation allows the insert to be applied in standard right-hand or neutral tool holders with screw-lock clamping. It carries ISO code CPMT 06 02 02-MF 1125. Typical applications include finish turning of shafts, flanges, and precision components where tight tolerances and smooth surface finish are required.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 111 series screw-lock tool holders accepting CPMT-style inserts with a 2.80 mm hole diameter and CPMT 06 02 02 insert size. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (ISO P), stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium per secondary material codes M, P, and S.
This insert is seated and secured by a screw-lock clamping mechanism; use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the tool holder manufacturer to seat the clamp screw. De-energize and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the tool holder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert, as contamination causes premature edge failure. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
